Training and Participation Requirements

Essential Training for HCARES Members

As a member of the Hendricks County ARES team, it is crucial to engage in regular training and participation activities to effectively support our mission in emergency communications. We recommend completing several FEMA online courses, which are designed to enhance your knowledge and skills in incident management. Specifically, members should aim to successfully complete IS-100b, IS-200b, IS-700a, and IS-800b courses. These courses are part of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and provide a foundational understanding of emergency response protocols.

Regular participation in training exercises and activities is essential for maintaining readiness and proficiency. By committing to a minimum level of training, you ensure that you are prepared to effectively contribute during emergency situations.

The FEMA courses can be taken at your own pace, and many offer online testing options.

We encourage all members to stay active and engaged in our training programs to better support the ARES mission and our community.
